A moment a day...

I’m feeling very zen this week after a lovely event I attended on Sunday with Leanun in Alchemy Yoga Studio to launch their new gratitude journal.

Leanun are a Cork-based company of three women with a penchant for style, stationery and general all-round good vibes and they have a design aesthetic that I really like, hence why I’ve been using their journals for the last two years.

So, needless to say, I was very excited when I heard they were launching a gratitude journal.

Now while I’ve been very interested in the whole concept of using a gratitude journal, I hadn’t gotten around to using one myself, so it was good to go along to the launch on Sunday and learn a little bit more about it.

It’s such a simple idea that we think about all the things we are grateful for in our lives, no matter how small they might seem.

Some days I’m just delighted to be able to take ten minutes out of my schedule to sit down and have a coffee. So inspired was I by Sunday's event, that I’m going to try to get up five minutes earlier in the morning and fill in my gratitude journal.

I also feel like getting back into yoga practice after visiting the gorgeous Alchemy School of Yoga and we were treated to some yoga by Jean Noonan as well as being guided in some meditation and some food meditation which was different but very interesting.

I also had a few photoshoots this week and it was great to check out all the high summer stock in the stores at the moment. Really, this time of year is all about the summer dress and no matter your style, there’s a dress out there for you.

It goes without saying that floral dresses and summer go hand in hand, and when it comes to a this print, you can’t go wrong with a low neck, midi style. It’s such a popular dress because it can so easily be dresses up or down whether with a pair of Converse or a simple pair of espadrilles or heels.

I’m particularly taken with a lilac floral midi dress from Only that would look great with white leather sandals and a leather jacket, and speaking of lilac, I also found a pair of lilac leather heels in New Look which are just crying out to be styled with a yellow floral dress from H&M. All you need is a straw basket bag and you’ve got a perfect summer outfit right there.

Penneys also have a solid printed midi dress selection and I am particularly taken with a black and white polka dot number which is a good option if florals aren’t your thing. The beauty of a good print with plenty of colour is that your accessory options are a plenty.

Of course, not everyone is into print so I styled a few block colour dresses also, and a block colour really tends to lend itself well to occasion wear style. Summer stock can be that bit more casual but if you have a wedding or event coming up soon, then I recommend heading to Topshop and checking out the options there.

Crave is a new concession/label currently in store there and there is a very striking sky blue, off the shoulder pleated dress that would look fantastic paired with a statement earring and either white heels or create a colour clash with red or orange sandals.

Never one to shy away from colour, I also styled an orange dress complete with interesting pleat detail which really only requires a barely there sandal and a piece of standout jewellery. The dress is certainly this season's key piece and I am quite okay with that.
