Country Roads took the crowd home happy

By Carmel Tobin

The legends of country music descended on the Marquee on Saturday night for the popular Country Roads Show.

Robert Mizzell opened the Live at the Marquee show with Rhinestone Cowboy backed by a 50-piece RTÉ Concert Orchestra and the show only got better and better as it went on.

Artists like Sandy Kelly, Michael English, Lisa McHugh, Ray Lynam, Patrick Feeney, Rory Daniels and Ashley Campbell, daughter of the great Glen Campbell gave outstanding performances throughout the night with the audience on their feet dancing along to the hits like ‘Crazy’, ‘Blue Berry Hill’, ‘Let me Love Again’, ‘Leaving on a Jet Plane’ and ‘Blanket on the Ground’.

However, ‘The Holy City’ by Patrick Feeney was one of the performances of the night with the singer getting a standing ovation for his version of the song.

His and many other performances were amazing on the night and it was a lovely way to spend a summer’s night where the audience sang along and danced to the Irish country legends, who showed off their talents all during the show.

To top off a great night, all of the performers came back on stage and ended the show with John Denver’s classic country hit ‘Take me Home, Country Roads’! The fans left feeling very happy with the concert and looked forward to seeing it in 2020 again.
