District gets in shape with 40 new jobs

By Aislinn O'Connor

A total of 40 jobs have been created at the brand new District Health & Leisure fitness club. That news was announced last Thursday at the launch with all staff coming from strong sporting, fitness and wellness backgrounds.

Following a €3.5 million investment, District, a new concept in health and leisure, has now opened its doors in Cork.

The 48,000 square foot premises features state-of-the art-facilities including a 25 metre swimming pool, a fully kitted out gym with prestigious Precor equipment, a suite of studios dedicated to functional fitness, spin, and wellness, three astro-turf pitches, squash courts, a beauty salon, café, creche and a sports clinic.

“We’ve not just built a gym, we’re intent on creating a community,” said Seamus Crowe, owner of District. “Our fully inclusive approach to fitness and wellness is reflected in the comprehensive variety of classes, workshops and treatments available at District.”

District’s 25 metre pool offers a selection of activities including swimming lessons, aqua aerobics, triathlon training and pool parties.

High Performance Swim Coach Eilís Burns is on hand to share her 30 years of experience to work with District members to improve their swimming technique, while the modern sauna and steam room offers members the opportunity to relax, and rejuvenate, after a workout, or a long day in the office.

“There’s already been intense interest in District, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming new members through our doors,” said Seamus. “Whether you’re here for a sprint, a swim, a smoothie or a salon treatment, you’re in for a warm welcome.”
