Cannabis seized in Innishannon

Thousands of euro worth of cannabis was seized by garda in a Cork village this week.

Gardaí have said that they arrested three men in their 20s and seized approximately €7,000 worth of suspected cannabis herb in Innishannon on Tuesday.

Shortly before 4pm, Gardaí from the Bandon District were carrying out a checkpoint at Skeugh Cross when they stopped and searched a car.

A garda spokesman said: “During the search, gardaí seized the suspected cannabis herb and drug paraphernalia. The suspected drugs will now be sent for analysis.”

All three men were detained at Bandon Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 and have since been released.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, the spokesman confirmed.
