Post mortem to take place in fatal stabbing case

Gardaí investigating the fatal stabbing of a young man have asked anyone with details or video footage to come forward and not to share it on social media.
The local coroner and the office of the State Pathologist has been informed while a post mortem is scheduled to take place today.
Gardaí were called to the scene on Bandon Road shortly before 9.30pm last night after they received reports of an assault. The man was brought to CUH but was later pronounced dead.
The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination and an incident room has been set up at Togher Gardaí Station. A senior investigating officer has been appointed.
A garda spokesperson said: “CCTV is being gathered and door to door enquiries are commencing this morning. Gardaí are appealing for anyone who has any information to contact us.”
It is believed that the young man is a student and was at a house party on the road at the time.
