Kimberly O'Connor was recently in India with the Hope Foundation visiting and painting orphanages.

'Our lives are shattered today'

The heartbroken family of a teenage girl who was killed in a crash last night have spoken of her kind and generous spirit.
Kimberly O'Connor, a student at Terence MacSwiney Community College, was described by her family as a popular and generous girl who was really loved by all her family, peers and teachers.
Kimberly had recently returned from a school trip to Kolkata in January with the Hope Foundation where she raised funds and participated in the Hope You Can Paint Project there, visiting and painting local orphanages in Kolkata.
In a statement, her mother Jennifer said: "Our hearts are broken today at the loss of our beautiful daughter, sister, granddaughter, aunt, niece and friend Kimberly O'Connor. Our Kimberly had a bright future and was a very kind and generous person who was loved by so many people. She was also involved in an exchange programme with Cooperation Ireland, visiting Belfast and engaging in cross border projects and relationships working with the students of Northern Ireland.
"Kimberly had a great interest in drama and singing and was very talented and a great career lay ahead of her. She also played a leading role in two musicals in Terence MacSwiney Community College over the last two years with her friends and teachers. Our lives are shattered today and it's difficult to put into words how we are feeling. We are grateful for the support of family, neighbours and friends, her teachers, our local priest and the community at large including An Garda Síochána at this very sad time."
Kimberly was killed last night when the car she was travelling in crashed into a wall at Harbour View Road in Knocknaheeny at 11.45pm. The driver and another passenger, two teenage males, are currently being treated for their injuries at CUH. The male passenger is understood to be in a critical condition.
Jennifer concluded: "We pray for those who are injured and thank the emergency services for attending to the accident last night and ask for all your prayers at the very sad time."

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information regarding the collision, particularly any road users with camera footage who were travelling Harbour View Road between 11pm and 12.30am on 19-20 February, to contact Gurranabraher Garda Station on 021-4946200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111 or any garda station.
