Major search continues for Catherine

Poor weather conditions and Covid-19 restrictions have slowed but not stopped the search for “well-known” missing person Catherine Reidy.

Ms Reidy, 67, has been missing from her home in Ballyderown, Kilworth for over a week prompting a large scale multi-agency search.

Amongst those involved in the search are the Blackwater Sub Aqua Club who have been diving the River Blackwater and carrying out surface searches after Catherine disappeared on Wednesday 13 January.

“The club has been out since last Thursday diving the river with the support of a number of other groups. There has been between 30 and 35 personnel on the ground since Thursday,” a spokesperson from the club told the Cork Independent.

Local councillor William O’Leary told the paper there is “huge concern” for Catherine and that she and her family are quite well-known in the area.

“In a quiet community like Kilworth, we just don't expect things like this to happen. We've got great gardaí in North Cork and I'm sure they'll get to the bottom of this. Please God she's safe and well,” said the county councillor.

Catherine is described as being 5'4" in height, of slight build and with long grey hair tied in a ponytail.

When last seen, Catherine was wearing a camel coloured coat and a light grey skirt.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts or who may have seen Catherine are asked to contact gardaí in Fermoy Garda Station on 025-82100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111, or any garda station.
