Corcadorca is looking for the perfect performer to lead FitzHenry the Horse around Cork this summer.

Straight from the horse’s mouth

Corcadorca Theatre Company has issued a casting call for a special role that involves leading a two-person theatrical horse around various locations in Cork.

The role is for a female performer aged 25-40 who will lead FitzHenry the horse in a new, large-scale, outdoor theatre piece called ‘Where is the Horse?’.

The production, which is based on writer Frank O’Connor’s ‘Guests of the Nation’, is to be presented as part of Cork Midsummer Festival 2021.

Designed by Elisa Gallo Rossa, the horse will house two performers and will represent Ireland’s historical relationship with England.

The two performers will be led through a number of locations at undisclosed times during the festival, catching the public by surprise.

The theatre piece is a creative collaboration between celebrated Irish writer Kevin Barry, award-winning composer and sound designer Mel Mercier, and Corcadorca’s Artistic Director, Pat Kiernan.

Candidates for the character who will lead FitzHenry the horse must be Cork-based and be available full-time from 14-27 June.

Any interested candidates should email a recent headshot and up to date CV to info@corcadorca.com with “CMF 2021” as the email subject line.
