60 new data security jobs on Leeside

American data security and analytics company Varonis Systems has announced plans to double its headcount on Leeside with the creation of 60 new jobs.

The new positions are expected to be created over the next three years and will cover tech support, research and development, human resources, and sales.

Varonis Systems has expanded its existing office space at Penrose Dock where it currently employs approximately 60 workers.

Welcoming the news, An Taoiseach Micheál Martin TD said the company’s expansion is a testament to Cork and Ireland’s continued attractiveness for high-quality investment and jobs.

“I’m delighted to welcome today’s announcement by Varonis of the opening of its new and expanded office space in Cork City, at Penrose Dock, along with the creation of 60 new jobs over the next three years,” he said.

Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment Leo Varadkar TD added: “As the past few weeks have shown, data security is an increasingly important sector and companies like Varonis play a critical role in the global economy.”

Founded in 2005, Varonis Systems protects organisations’ most sensitive data including financial information, intellectual property, and confidential employee and patient records.

The company can detect insider threats and cyberattacks like ransomware and ensure compliance with regulations like the GDPR.

Varonis, which opened its first Cork location in 2017, is headquartered in New York City and today employs approximately 1,800 employees worldwide.
