Is your baby born to play for Cork in Páirc Uí Chaoimh?

Those were the words of Cork GAA footballer Brian Hurley as a new Born to Play initiative was launched.

It offers parents of newborn babies across the Rebel County the chance to see their baby’s name featured on Cork’s very own walk of fame this summer ahead of Cork GAA’s championship openers, showcasing that we are all #BornToPlay.

Parents are being encouraged to register their newborn baby’s name for the chance to feature on Cork GAA’s very own walk of fame, The Steps to Greatness, at the grounds of Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The 300 Cork GAA clubs, players, and volunteers are also being asked to help spread the word on the #BornToPlay initiative, which will be rolled out ahead of Cork’s championship opener on 3 July.

The project is being organised by Sports Direct and Cork GAA.

Brian added: “It’s an incredible feeling to play for a county with such passionate people. With the #BornToPlay campaign, Sports Direct are reaching out to our GAA family to build the next generation of Cork supporters (and hopefully a few players too!) This is a big year for Cork GAA and it’s a welcome boost for both teams before we kick off our seasons.”

Cork GAA hurler Shane Kingston commented: “My dream from a very young age was to play for Cork and I’m truly honoured that I am able to pull on the red jersey and represent my family, friends, community and club.

“I am thrilled to help Sports Direct launch the #BornToPlay campaign today and I’m calling on GAA fans and new parents across the county to get involved and register over the coming days to be part of something truly special at Páirc Uí Chaoimh!”
