Heading out on Culture Night?

Fancy getting some fresh air on Culture Night? Well, there’s loads of events to attend in Cork city on the night.

Taking place on 17 September, there’s a myriad of outdoor events like at Elizabeth Fort which will remain open until 8pm for Culture Night. Visitors can walk the walls, take in the view while exploring Cork city on this very special evening.

You might even catch a tune from the Cork City Musical Society who will do a pop up performance on the day.

Not too far from Elizabeth Fort, MTU Gallery at 46 Grand Parade will present a selected window exhibition of works from the MTU Art Collection full collection on arts.mtu.ie

Slip Stream by Rebecca Bradley reveals temporal installations, in a variety of mediums and iterations that blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture.

Fitzgerald’s Park will be the focal point of this year’s celebrations in Cork City with an impressive line-up of events from 4pm. Upstaged – Culture Night at the Park promises an evening of circus, music and art from 4pm. There's simply loads of events taking place at Fitzgerald's Park which should be a must-see!

Meanwhile, Cork Nature Network is offering a guided walk along the Cork city otter trail. Learn about the natural heritage of the River Lee and how important it is for the Eurasian Otter. Cork Nature Network’s Otter Project Manager, Eimear Thornton will talk about otters that live in Cork city and how they should be protected. It starts at Camden Quay and ends at Fitzgerald’s Park.

Elsewhere, the Metropole Hotel and Harley StreEAT will welcome Son-Solar to play. Son-Solar is a nine-piece multicultural band playing Afro-Latin music.

The gig will be outside on Harley StrEAT which features some delicious food and beverage items in the food market.

Keeping with a musical theme, Cork Barrack Street Band will host an outdoor open rehearsal. Featuring musicians from the youth brass and wind programme, which runs in partnership with Music Generation Cork City, the band will perform a range of concert band standards including Marches, Film Music, and Pop Music in a rehearsal setting. This is weather dependent.
