Blackrock Castle Observatory is available for weddings once again.

Enchanted venues

By Sharon Quigley

Now that guest numbers at weddings are increasing, I’d like to share with you some of the many private and secluded wedding venues in Cork you may never have thought of for your enchanted wedding.

Blackrock Castle Observatory

Boasting a dramatic riverside location, Blackrock Castle Observatory is a well known visitors centre and observatory but did you know that is now available for weddings once again? I had the pleasure of conducting what was to be the last wedding there in December 2018. But I am delighted to discover that weddings are back there. When hiring the Castle for your enchanted wedding, the area is transformed into a wonderland. The onsite Blackrock Castle Café also provide food and refreshments for your guests while you photos taken. See bco.ie.

Inishbeg Estate, Skibbereen

‘Picture yourself on a magical private island estate in beautiful West Cork.’ That’s what the website says as you begin to wonder at the breathtaking photographs. A classic Irish country house estate - on an island, it is a few miles from the thriving market town of Skibbereen and the idyllic little port of Baltimore with its sailing, fishing and diving centres. This venue is breathtaking and is a must-visit if you are seeking something away from the hustle and bustle of city with accommodation for you and your guests. See inishbeg.com.

Blackwater Castle

Blackwater Castle is a privately owned and secluded riverside estate located in the village of Castletownroche between the towns of Mallow and Fermoy. Since 2005, it has been available to rent as a private hire venue for castle weddings and private parties along with castle rentals for vacations with plenty of accommodation for you and your guests. There is also a real sile na gig located in the original castle tower which as we all know, in Celtic folkloric traditions was believed to bestow a fertility blessing on those who touched it. See blackwatercastle.com.

Enchanted micro wedding venue

There will always be some couples who prefer a smaller wedding venue for many reasons, something dignified and special, but without all the fuss. For this, the new Earth Spiritualist Centre in Cork city is ideal for micro-weddings of up to 12 wedding guests seated. Decorated beautifully and with its South Mall location, a convenient walking distance to many restaurants and dining experiences in Cork city centre. See earthspiritualist.ie/ceremonies for photos and more information about getting married at Earth Spiritualist Centre.
