The meditation course will begin next Wednesday.

Meditation course to start

A five-week course on meditation will begin next week.

Those organising the course said there are many reasons to learn how to meditate and that the main benefit of meditation is that it enables people to develop and maintain a peaceful mind all the time. They said that meditation could help to find happiness, reduce stress, improve relationships, be more positive and to feel better.

A spokesperson for the course said: “The best way to understand the benefits of meditation is to experience them for yourself. You do not have to meditate for a long time each day to experience the benefits of meditation. Five, ten or 15 minutes of meditation is enough to calm your mind, improve your mental clarity, reduce feelings of stress and tension, and give you more perspective on your life. By meditating daily over a period of time, you can develop a balanced and happy mind all the time and uproot the negative minds that are the source of your problems.”

The spokesperson added: “Although you may feel inspired to try meditation, you may still find it difficult to meditate on your own at home. Weekly meditation classes give you the tools and confidence you need to keep your meditation practice alive and to put your daily problems into perspective. “The combination of meditating in a group, and receiving the support of a qualified teacher, enable you to establish an authentic meditation practice that will grow and improve over time.”
