Honk if you love bingo!

Put your lucky marker in the glove compartment because Cork Lions Club has just announced it will be running a drive-in bingo game in the city this weekend.

The event will be held in the car park of Curraheen Greyhound Stadium on Sunday with expert bingo caller Jason O’Sullivan on hand to broadcast the numbers right through your car’s radio!

The proceeds from the event will go towards the Cork Lions Club Christmas Food Appeal. Every year Cork Lions Club distributes food hampers to deserving families in Cork City.

Last year, over 500 hampers were distributed.

There will be a collection point at the event where people can drop off dry goods and non-perishables which will be used to make up hampers for the food appeal.

Because of Covid, Cork Lions Club has been unable to run any events to raise funds so the club is hoping for a big turnout on Sunday.

Cork Lions will also use the event to advertise the Message in a Bottle campaign which encourages people to keep their basic personal and medical details in a common place, where, in cases of emergency, the emergency teams can easily find them.

This is especially important for people living on their own or with medical conditions.

President of Cork Lions Club Garry Ryan said: “We’re delighted to run the drive-in bingo again. We had hoped to run many more but Covid restrictions prevented us from doing so. The last 18 months have been an enormous struggle for fundraising and this event is a great opportunity to raise funds to support this year’s Christmas Food Appeal, so everyone’s support is appreciated.”
