Charity thanks locals for ‘fantastic support’

A charity set up in memory of local girl Beibhinn O’Connor has said it has had fantastic support from the community and beyond since its launch in June 2021.

The Heart Angel Charity this week announced the provision of funding to Carrigaline Family Support Centre, with a particular focus on helping to support play therapy services for children and their families.

The provision of play therapy services is close to the heart of the charity.

Beibhinn’s mum Irene O’Connor explained: ‘’Beibhinn availed of play therapy services in the lead up to her surgery and I saw first-hand the difference it made to her and all our family. We’re delighted to support this initiative and thanks again for all the fantastic support of the Heart Angel Charity so far which has enabled us to provide this funding.’’

Chris O’Brien, Manager of the Carrigaline Family Support Centre advised the funds will help facilitate and further develop play therapy resources to help improve the lives of families in Carrigaline and surrounding areas.

Speaking about the service they offer, Chris said: “Play therapy is one of the most in demand services in our centre. It helps children to process the world around them and any issues they might be facing. It’s a safe place for a child to work through and make sense of any concerns while being guided and supported by a therapist who recognises the power of play.”
