Civilian gardaí expected by April

It’s expected that civilian gardaí will be in place in some garda stations in Cork by April.

Chief Superintendent Con Cadogan made the comments during a Cork County Joint Policing (JPC) meeting on Monday after he was asked for an update by Independent Cllr Ben Dalton O'Sullivan.

The Chief Superintendent said: “Civilian and support staff haven’t been allocated to stations to yet in Cork county. There will be further meetings in the next week to 10 days. It’s an ongoing situation but I envisage that by April we should be seeing some of those people delivered to us.”

Cllr Dalton O’Sullivan said: “That’s a bit of good news that things are happening in the background.”
