Hospice setting up satellite service

A children’s hospice announced this week it is seeking a team lead to help develop and bring its hospice care to Cork and Kerry.

LauraLynn Children’s Hospice has started recruitment for its first satellite service and is currently seeking applications for its team lead.

Last September, LauraLynn Children’s Hospice announced plans to establish the satellite service in the Munster region. This service, the hospice has said, will initially target counties Cork and Kerry, bringing services closer to home for children with palliative care needs and their families in the region and recruitment to support this expansion is now underway.

The hospice said the team lead is a key strategic position in the roll out of hospice care for children and the post holder will play a critical role in developing and leading the regional children’s hospice hub, based in Cork.

LauraLynn CEO, Kerry McLaverty said: “We are delighted to kick start recruitment for our Cork hub which will be the first phase of expansion for LauraLynn. The Hub Team Lead role is a great opportunity for a nurse manager to join our team and help lead LauraLynn on this exciting new chapter bringing care and supports closer to home for children with life-limiting conditions and their families in Cork and Kerry.

“This is just the start of our recruitment process and we will have lots of opportunities coming to the market in the coming months and look forward to growing Team LauraLynn.”

LauraLynn provides care to more than 200 children and their families per year, but the charity’s aim is to double that to reach 400 families by 2024, increasing care provided from its existing facility in Dublin and establishing a new presence on the ground in Cork and Kerry, initially, and further regions nationally thereafter.
