Denis ‘Dinny’ Cronin from Coachford will represent Cork in the first ever Westmeath Bachelor Competition.

The bros of Tralee

A new competition and music festival dubbed “a modern twist on the Rose of Tralee, but for men” will take place next month.

Celebrity judges Louis Walsh, Doireann Garrihy, Anne Doyle and Nathan Carter will oversee the Westmeath Bachelor Competition, which will see contestants from Cork to New York go head to head for the title of Ireland’s most eligible bachelor.

Representing Cork is 26 year old social media manager Denis “Dinny” Cronin from Coachford. Dinny, also known as ‘The Dinny Cro Show’ owns the digital marketing company Social Star and is the organiser of Miss Earth Ireland.

Dinny says he entered the competition as he thought it would be a great way to make new friends and have “loads of craic in the process”.

He said: “So far so good. All the other lads are A1 and I can’t wait until the final weekend now. I honestly don’t mind the whole competition side of it too much, as I’d be delighted for whoever wins because they are a great bunch. I do consider myself good craic all same and I think that’s what the whole competition is all about!”

The Westmeath Bachelor Festival 2022 takes place in Mullingar from 29 April to 1 May and features a lineup of concerts from artists including Gavin James, The Academic, and The Blizzards. The highlight of the weekend, the final of the Westmeath Bachelor Competition, will happen in Mullingar Arts Centre on 1 May from 8pm.

A total of 13 contestants from right across Ireland, as well as international representatives from England, Scotland and New York will take to the stage at the event.
