A printing and binding company in Cork has just launched a thoughtful new product for those who have recently lost a loved one.
The condolence gift box, by Presentation Binding on Dublin Hill, is the perfect way to remember those we have lost in a way that is both personal and meaningful. We spoke to Simon O'Leary from Presentation Binding to find out more about the Cork business.
Q: Tell us a little about your business:
A: Presentation Binding has been creating great impressions for over 40 years. We started our family-run business from the spare room of our home selling binding and laminating machines and supplies.

Q: Tell us about your new condolence gift box product:
A: With the condolence gift box, we create a personalised printed book of condolence for your loved one. We can convert messages of love and support from friends and family in the condolences section of rip.ie into an elegant hard bound condolence book in beautiful gold foil print.
If there is a particular verse, poem or wording that you wish to use, we can create a memorial book that reflects your loved one. We finish the set with a personalized portfolio case to hold and protect the book.
Q: Where did this idea come from and when did it launch?
A: I created the first personalised condolence book for a friend of the family that sadly passed away during lockdown. When restrictions on funeral numbers meant that it was not possible for these messages of love and support to be done in person, people turned to rip.ie to leave these messages. I decided to print and bind these messages and present them in a personalised, elegant hard bound case. I was blown away with the response that this received and started to offer it as a service.
