Tech-ing top spot

A Cork trainee has been announced as the Apprentice Network Technician of the Year for 2022 by ESB Networks.

Tomás Crowley from Ovens was awarded the Shane Conlon Perpetual Award recently by Nicholas Tarrant, Managing Director of ESB Networks, following a high-pressure competition at ESB Networks' Training Centre in Portlaoise.

A spokesperson for ESB Networks said: “As ESB Networks continues to deliver sustainable and reliable networks for Ireland, technical skills such as those assessed in the competition are critical.”

The spokesperson added: “We commend the other finalists, Nicole O’Flaherty (Meath), Cathal Ryan (Waterford), and Colm O’Donnell (Galway) for their exceptional skill levels.

“We congratulate Tomás, and those who supported and helped him to date in his career, on achieving this award,” concluded the spokesperson.
