Joy in the Park is almost here!

Excitement is growing on Leeside with just days to go before the inaugural Joy In The Park takes place in the city.

This Sunday, thousands of visitors are expected at Fitzgerald’s Park for a full day of live music, spoken word, storytelling, children’s entertainment, circus, and wellness activities.

Kicking off at 12pm, performers include John Spillane, Circus Factory, Kíla, The Lost Gecko, and many more.

Meanwhile, a host of mental health and well-being organisations will be located in the Support Hub throughout the day, offering information and a programme of wellness and sensory activities, as well as workshops for all to take part in.

Ahead of the event, organisers have issued some important information for attendees.

Those attending the inaugural Joy In The Park in Fitzgerald's Park on Sunday are asked to be mindful that the park is in a residential area and to kindly respect the privacy and interests of the local community.

Children under 12 attending the event must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian aged over 18.

Organisers also said the outdoor event will take place “rain, hail or shine” and asked attendees to plan for adverse weather conditions and check the weather forecast before leaving home.

The public is also welcome to bring picnics to the event and is reminded that there will be no alcohol being served, nor is alcohol permitted in the park.

Parking on Mardyke Walk will be limited be limited to residents and blue badge holders throughout the event.

Organisers are encouraging attendees to use public transport or travel by foot, with the park being within walking distance of the city.

Fitzgerald's Park is served by the 220, 220x and 208 bus routes with drop-off points along the Western Road adjacent to the park.

Car parks with paid parking are located at Q-Park St Finbarr's (1.1km), Q-Park Grand Parade (1.6km), Paul Street Car Park (2km), Q-Park Carroll's Quay (2.3km), and Q-Park City Hall (3.1km). Attendees are reminded to check the opening and closing times with their chosen car-park to avoid the risk of their vehicle getting locked in.

Joy In The Park will take place in Fitzgerald's Park on Sunday from 12-6pm. Entry is free to all!
