Women on the Water is back

A special event is happening in the water and around Baltimore today.

After a Covid-19-enforced break, Baltimore Sailing Club’s (BSC) cancer fundraiser called Women on the Water returns today, 11 August.

This year’s event will be the 5th Women on the Water. Founded in 2014 by then BSC Commodore, the late Joan Collins, and now continued by her daughter, Odharnait and the team at the club, Women on the Water promises to be a great and fun day on the water, whilst raising funds for Breakthrough Cancer Research and Marymount Hospice.

BSC has issued an open invitation to all - locals, visitors and tourists - for a great day out in Baltimore Harbour, kicking off with a fun morning swim, the traditional afternoon treasure hunt on the water with fantastic prizes, competitions for the best dressed boat, a charity raffle and auction, live music on the square, pink cocktails and great food, all for the entry fee of €30 for adults and €10 for children.

With the only criteria for the event being a pink dress code and ideally a lifejacket, the village and harbour of Baltimore transforms to a waterpark-like fun zone, with dinghies, kayaks, RIBs, sailing boats and currachs taking part in the competitions on the water.

Given that the event was stopped by Covid-19 restrictions for the last 2 years, this year’s Women on the Water event promises to be an extra special event!
