Paula Quigley and Nollaig Hulme from Team Serve gear up for a 5 a side soccer tournament.

Help serve others in need

Get your soccer boots dusted off, and your game face on.

Get ready to make a difference in unemployment in Mozambique and Zimbabwe with Cork based overseas aid charity, Serve. The charity will be hosting a 5 a side soccer tournament on 10 September in the Nemo Rangers GAA Club, Douglas. All teams will battle it out to win the inaugural Serve Cup, accompanied by refreshments and children's activities. It promises to be a fun-filled event for everyone!

In 2021, Serve launched the Skills for Youth Resilience Programme to combat the youth unemployment crisis in south-eastern Africa. The programme builds their economic resilience by helping them gain the skills they need to finish their education, become employable and break free from the poverty cycle.

Paula Quigley, Serve Programmes Manager explained: “This soccer tournament is our way to raise awareness of the unemployment crisis in a few of the countries we work in. We’ve planned a great day out for everyone. Sign up with your friends, family or colleagues. This money will directly assist young people in Zimbabwe and Mozambique by providing graduate start-up kits to over 150 graduates.” Funds raised in this tournament will help the charity provide graduate start-up kits to more than 150 graduates to promote small enterprises such as hairdressing, beauty therapy, solar technology, electronics, carpentry, catering, welding, and more.
