Event marked 40 years of counselling

There were great celebrations recently as Cork Counselling Services turned 40.

The service celebrated by organising an event called Creative Beings which took in the Kingsley Hotel recently.

Sponsored by Noel Deasy Cars, the keynote speaker was author and journalist Louise O’Neill.

Shane Casey (aka Billy Murphy) was joined by Honor Carroll, Head Of Student Counselling at MTU. The event, hosted by Stan Notte, featured guest talks from Cllr Dan Boyle (deputising for the Lord Mayor), journalist Michael Moynihan, poet Julie Goo and Biddy McDonagh from the Traveller Visibility Group.

More than 150 guests enjoyed music from Hank Wedel and Eileen Healy, Owen O’Riabhaigh and Aidan Coffey and Ronan O’Driscoll. For 40 years, the service has been committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy to the highest ethical and professional standards to all members of society regardless of financial means, religious beliefs, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or educational background.

The organisation’s premises are at 7 Fr Mathew Street in Cork city. See corkcounsellingservices.ie for more.
