Nickie from Juniper Lane.

Lounge around in style

Is there anything better than coming home from work and immediately taking off the work clothes and putting on the comfies?

Answer...no, there is not. However, if I’m spending my evenings lounging about the house, you know it needs to be done in style and I love nothing more than an excellent quality pyjamas and robe and if they match, well all the better.

I’ve been loving the new collection from Juniper Lane, a Cork business owned by the fabulous Nickie Cohalan. Juniper Lane has come about after over 25 years of Nickie making all kinds of crafts, from hats, having studied many millinery techniques over the years.

She's made jewellery, beaded collars, prints, personalised mugs, candles and soaps etc having come from parents who were very craft orientated and also had great entrepreneurial skills to pass on.

She began the business as she wanted to open an online store to sell quality, unique and handmade items created by artisans across the globe as well as items that were hand crafted by her.

“I appreciate the hard work and slow fashion aspect of handmade items and wanted to bring to the market something a little different from the usual mass produced items available on the high street.” said Nickie, on what has inspired her.

My favourite pieces are the blue chintz pyjamas with matching robes that have a timeless quality to them and there’s just something so luxurious about the chintz print. They are also made of cotton which makes them so comfortable and breathable and the set makes for a beautiful gift or of course for self-gifting which I’m a big fan of!

They are also hand printed which makes them that bit more special and unique.

There’s also a beautiful selection of kaftans which make for light and airy nightwear and general loungewear and all in unusual and interesting block prints.

I always find a kaftan is perfect for popping in to the suitcase too for holidays and is just what you need in the later afternoon on hols when you want to pop something light and comfy on before getting ready for dinner. You’re lounging but you still want to keep it chic and cute.

The collection also contains curated hand embroidered alphabet wall tapestries from a father and son team in Kashmir, made of 100% wool, hand dyed with plant- based dyes as well as the designed range of 100% cotton pyjamas and robes from her Cork Studio.

These feature alongside curated ruffled block printed cushions and quilts from Jaipur in India where each piece of fabric is hand stamped using plant-based dyes and handmade autumn fabric pumpkin decorations handstitched in the Cork Studio.

If you’re an interiors fan, you will love the table linen and napkin rings which are a must for seasonal tablescapes and I adore the collection of enamel jugs, trays and other tableware that are perfect for outdoor dining with vivid and colourful floral prints.

There’s something for every part of the home here.

I love that the whole collection all works so well together so you can build up items like placemats and napkins over time to create cohesive table settings. It’s ideal for budding dinner hosts.
