A real underdog story

Former Cork hurling legend John Allen will be part of the managing team on the next season of TG4’s GAA series ‘Underdogs’.

Allen, who as a manager led Cork to an All-Ireland victory in 2005, will join Wexford camogie star and 4-time All-Ireland winner Claire O’Connor and former Cork minor player and one of the youngest managers ever to win the Fitzgibbon Cup, Jamie Wall.

The management team are challenged with putting a panel of hurlers together that have the potential to take on one of the best intercounty teams in the country. They will be searching for a squad of ambitious men with enough drive, skill and passion to take on the challenge.

The show, which throws in today, Thursday, will run for 6 months as the group of hopefuls are whittled down each week until a squad of 30 remain.

Throughout the 6 months, the players will receive words of wisdom and advice from legends of the game such as Davy Fitz, Lar Corbett and Declan Hannon. Produced by Adare Productions, the show will be broadcast every Thursday at 9.30pm on TG4.
