More acts added to Jazz Fest 2022

As if it wasn’t already exciting enough, a host of additional acts and events have just been announced for the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival 2022.

Marking not just a Cork first, but a world first, renowned photographer Chuck Stewart’s photography collection has been carefully curated over the past 4 years to debut at this year’s festival. The ‘We Got the Jazz’ exhibition showcases the work of the African American fine art photographer, considered by many to be the most important music photographer of the 20th century.

The exhibition will be free to visit at St Peter’s Church from 11am-5pm on the Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday of the October Bank Holiday Weekend. Each evening there will be a special ticketed experience with performances from harpist Brandee Younger.

Also just announced is the addition of The Jazz Boat which will sail through the scenic sights of Cork Harbour with music from 32 year old world sensation Jerron ‘Blindboy’ Paxton from Compton, Los Angeles. With just 70 tickets available for the boat tour, those wishing to attend are encouraged to book immediately.

3 new events have been announced for Live at St Luke’s. The opening show triple header on 27 October will be Soul Service, a melting pot of experimental voices in hip-hop, jazz and neo-soul presented by Cork local Jarjarjr. On the Friday, the father of British neo-soul Omar will get things started, followed by modern funk and indie jazz specialist Zaska and American rapper Jeru the Damaja. On Saturday, Cooks but We’re Chefs will deliver a matinee of funk, hip-hop, jazz and soul, open to families and children.

Over at Triskel, 2 new acts have been announced. On the Saturday, hailing from the slums of Recife in Brazil's North-East, international jazz icon Amaro Freitas will perform from 2pm. Preforming from 8pm on Sunday is one of Europe’s leading saxophonists Andy Sheppard.

Other must see acts include: Jazzanova, Toshín as Aretha, Mas Exodus + Omar and Jeru, Laufey, and the Booka Brass Band.

Festival goers can optimise their festival experience and make sure to hit the best music venues by checking out the mapped Guinness Music Trail which offers music to suit every appetite.
