Energy events coming to Cork

Two information evenings are due to take place in Cork about upgrading the electricity grid and home upgrades.

The meetings, organised by EirGrid, will take place in Cork city and Youghal, will include stalls showcasing the latest details about home energy efficiency upgrades and retrofitting grants, with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) providing information about supports available. ESB Networks will also be in attendance, discussing community micro-generation schemes and mini-generation opportunities.

Speaking ahead of the roadshow events, Sinead Dooley, Head of Public Engagement with EirGrid said: “These events are a chance for members of the public, businesses and communities in Cork, East Cork and surrounding areas, to come along and hear about the future of the grid, while also finding out more about supports that are available at a local level. And, we look forward to seeing the launch of the Energy Audit Report for Youghal, to be presented by the Blue and Green Community Network.”

The EirGrid Energy Citizens Roadshow event in Youghal, takes place on Wednesday 9 November at Pobalscoil na Tríonóide, in collaboration with Youghal Blue and Green Community Network. The Cork city event takes place on Thursday 10 November at Ballyphehane Community Centre, in collaboration with Cork City Council.

Both energy events take place from 6.30-8.30pm.

“We understand people’s concerns regarding energy consumption and the need for savings, that is why we are pleased to welcome exhibitors from a range of organisations and community energy groups to these events. There are a number of factors impacting on energy costs across Europe currently, and we need to be mindful of how we use energy in our daily lives. Many agencies and the Government are providing useful information in this regard,” she added.
