Roll with Rebel Wheelers takes place on 20 November.

A real rebel challenge!

One of Cork’s most loved clubs is seeking out local businesses who are up for a sporting challenge.

It's part of the Roll with Rebel Wheelers, a fundraising tournament taking place on 20 November. The tournament takes place at 10am at Neptune Stadium and the organisers are looking for business to enter teams of between 5 and 10 people to participate.

Teams will get a unique opportunity to try their hand at wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby and can expect excitement, friendly rivalry, and a major feel-good factor as you and your work crew roll out in support of a great local cause!

Rebel Wheelers is multisport club for people with a physical disability based in Cork. The core ethos of the club is to promote inclusion, self-esteem, fun and teamwork, all the while reaping the physical and mental health benefits of participation in sport.

Speaking ahead of the event, Dermot Hurley, Chairperson of Rebel Wheelers, said: “Rebel Wheelers promote independence, healthy living, and wellbeing through participation in sport and while the main aim of the day is to raise much needed funds for the club, we also hope to showcase all the fun, comradery and competition that is part of accessible sport while also shedding some light on he challenges faced by people living with a physical disability in Ireland.”

Each team on the day will a have a one-hour slot during which they will receive pregame briefing and coaching from one of the club’s senior athletes. And if extra incentive were needed, there are some fabulous prizes to be won!

After the game refreshments will be served and team members will have the opportunity to engage in some post game analysis and banter, and even consider how the experience will have shed some insight into the challenges faced by people living with a physical disability in Ireland, making it a great team bonding exercise and a genuine way to put your company’s corporate social responsibility charter into action.
