Christmas magic lights up Ballincollig

The winter night’s are drawing in but things are brightening up in Ballincollig!

Last Friday 25 November saw the turning of the Christmas lights in Ballincollig with a very special guest in attendance!

This year the venue was the square outside Castlewest Shopping Centre and it was a great show. Music and carols were courtesy of Scoile Mhuire National School, and there were also dancers Ballincollig Elves from Gaelscoil Uí Ríodáin.

MC Dick Beamish kept the crowd enthralled until the anticipated arrival of the special guest. Festivities were interrupted when a helicopter landed on the roof of the shopping centre. All was revealed a minute later when Santa Claus himself stepped out and waved to the crowd!

The man himself had arrived to help us turn on the lights with the help of Ballincollig's favourite citizen, Kitty O’Callaghan.

It was a fabulously festive evening with Santa, Kitty, singing, dancing and hot refreshments.

Ballincollig Business Association are responsible for lighting up the town, with assistance from Cork City Council.

The next big event for Ballincollig is their Christmas lunch in aid of Crann Centre, hosted by Oriel House Hotel. The event will be a fabulously festive lunch priced at €50 per ticket for 3 course lunch, with tea or coffee and lots of fun, with fabulous spot prizes and raffle.
