Assault suspect in court again

An 18 year old man is due to appear in court again today, Thursday, in connection with a serious assault in Carrigaline which left a man in critical condition.

Jordan Deasy appeared before a special sitting of Cork District Court last Sunday charged with assaulting a man in his late 20s in Glenwood Estate, Carrigaline, on the evening of 28 December.

The assault is understood to have happened at approximately 5.45pm and the victim was found shortly afterwards on the roadway with severe injuries.

Gardaí confirmed that the injured man was treated at the scene and then taken to CUH where he remains in a critical condition.

An Garda Síochána have since confirmed that the injured man’s condition has not changed.

Gardaí arrested Mr Deasy on 31 December and detained him under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Togher Garda station.

He was the second man to be arrested in connection with the assault.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: “Gardaí are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.”

An Garda Síochána also said they are specifically looking to speak with anyone who was in the vicinity of Glenwood Estate, Carrigaline, between 5-5.45pm on 28 December, particularly any road users who may have dash cam footage of the incident.

The garda spokesperson added: “Anyone with information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Togher Garda Station on 021-4947120, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666111 or any garda station.”
