Chamber hosts 25th annual awards

“We are proud of our success. Our continued growth and investment means that Cork is a hub for our manufacturing, supply chain management and R&D.”

Those were the words of Dr Bernard O’Connor, Vice President Advanced Operations and Global Additive Technologies at Stryker as it was announced that the company is the overall winner of the Cork Company of the Year Awards 2023.

Now in their 25th year, these Cork Chamber awards recognise the diversity and vibrancy that exists in the Cork business community.

There were 4 individual category awards presented at the ceremony which took place in City Hall:

• LegitFit for Emerging Cork Company of the Year 2023

• M&P O’Sullivan for SME Cork Company of the Year 2023

• Amarenco for Large Cork Company of the Year 2023

• Stryker for International (& Overall) Cork Company of the Year 2023

Ronan Murray, Cork Chamber President, said: “The calibre of applicants for this years’ awards has been phenomenal, all of whom deserve recognition for their achievements. Our winners LegitFit, M&P O’Sullivan, Amarenco and Stryker should feel exceptionally proud. It is clear that each has had a unique journey filled with ambition, vision and hard work, and I wish each winner every success as they continue to grow.”

Mr Murray continued: “Our overall winner, Stryker’s campus in Cork, is a key contributor to their innovative offering of products and services that impact over 100 million patients worldwide every year. Not only have they grown their product portfolio to become one of the world’s leading medical technology companies, but they have also contributed hugely to the Cork economy. They recently invested $300m in their Carrigtwohill facility, creating capacity for an additional 600 new jobs.”

Dr Bernard O’Connor added: “We are thrilled to accept this prestigious award. This award is testament to the drive and dedication of our teams who are motivated to seek innovative and pioneering solutions in delivering our mission – together with our customers, we are driven to make healthcare better.”

“We are embedded in our community and our success is only possible with its support. This award is dedicated to all of the people who are part of the Stryker story in Ireland. We look forward to our continued shared success,” Dr O’Connor added.
