It's all about giving that dress another day out

Only the other day I was discussing with someone how I have all these occasion wear dresses in my wardrobe and it makes me so sad to think they’ve only gotten a couple of wears.

I was saying even though I’m someone who doesn’t feel the need to buy something new for every occasion and do rewear these pieces, let’s face it there are only so many times you need to properly get dressed up.

It would be so handy to have a place specifically for occasion wear and low and behold there is!

Anotherdayout.ie is Ireland’s newest online marketplace designed specifically to buy and sell occasion wear.

Occasion, debs, wedding, bridesmaid and mother of the bride/groom dresses often are only worn once, and left sitting in a wardrobe never to be looked at again which is crazy considering they are often the most expensive items we will buy. I personally prefer to keep most of my shopping budget for my day to day wear.

Anotherdayout is a new Irish website where people can now buy and sell these preloved items and founder Grace O’Sullivan says given the times we’re in it’s not just about sustainability, it’s also about affordability.

As Grace said: “With the backlog of events after Covid-19 and the increase in the cost of living, I found I was splashing out on a new occasion dress every month and only wearing it once. It’s not that I didn’t want to buy a preloved dress, I just found it more convenient to shop in the larger retail stores. It can be time consuming trying to shop for preloved items and I was frustrated not being able to find the dress that I was looking for.

“That’s what led me to developing a platform such as this. This site works as a ‘pay and display’ platform and transactions are conducted between buyer and seller. We’re unique in that we don’t take commission on the sale of items.”

So how does it work? Well listing an item on the site operates on a ‘one off’ payment fee per item. This fee is dependent on the price of the item you wish to upload. Grace is encouraging women to explore the new website and whether you're buying or selling, give those much-loved items Another Day Out!

In other news, I went to a gorgeous wellness morning in Filo Laser and Aesthetic Clinic on Monday.

The clinic is situated in Ballincollig and has some top of the range machines many of which are the first in Munster and even Ireland. There are some amazing machines like the newest one which gives the Lumenis Lipofirm treatment and is like a facelift but without surgery or fillers. With a big birthday of mine on the way, I will be looking forward to trying out this new treatment. It was so nice to get dressed up of a Monday and mingle with people I hadn’t seen in ages.

You’ll also be interested to hear that I also decided to wear a dress without tights for the event. Yes, I know this is madness considering the event took place at the end of January and I’m now deeply regretting it as I feel like I can’t go back on my decision to shed this important layer.

Hence, I have been wearing nothing but jeans and trousers for the past week. Such a sartorial rookie mistake.
