Cork Pride takes shape

“This year’s theme ‘30 Years On...’ reminds us how far we have come as both a community and a country.”

Those were the words of Chairperson of Cork Pride Clive Davis as plans are well advanced for this Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival taking place this summer.

The dates for this year’s week-long Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival were recently confirmed and promise 7 days of celebration and entertainment. Beginning on Sunday 30 July, the curtain will come down on Sunday 6 August, with the full festival line-up announced in the coming weeks.

The theme for this year’s Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival is ‘30 Years On...’, marking the 30 year anniversary of the 1993 decriminalisation of homosexuality in Irish law.

Cork Pride has also announced that Ireland’s Eurovision 2023 stars Wild Youth as its headline act for its Party at the Port event taking place on Sunday 6 August, which will close out the 2023 Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival.

Clive said: “We are thrilled to have Wild Youth as our headline act for this year’s Cork Pride parade afterparty.

“Last year’s festival was a huge success as our first in-person festival post-Covid, but this year we are back even bigger and better. Over the years, the Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival has grown significantly in terms of attendance, popularity and success, and this year we aim to continue this trend!”

Last year, the 2022 Pride Parade drew a crowd of almost 15,000 people, while the overall attendance for events across the week was over 30,000. See Corkpride.com for more.
