More big names for Joy In The Park

Just when you thought the line-up for this year’s Joy In The Park festival couldn’t get any better!

The latest announcement for the festival’s 2nd outing is none other than beloved Cork songwriter John Spillane.

Spillane joins the John McCarthy Stage line-up alongside The Frank & Walters, Karen Underwood, Aoife Scott and Pontious Pilate & The Nail Drivers.

Earlier in the day, the audience is in for a treat when the Misneach Girls kick off the John McCarthy Stage. The young rappers, singers and songwriters from Cork’s Kabin Studio are an all-encompassing female music powerhouse.

Other recent additions announced for this year are award winning Galway storytellers, Moth & Butterfly, who will entertain children with their spellbinding folk stories in the glade.

Street performance world champion and a master at ‘showing off’, Cork Circus Factory's living legend Captain Cormac will also perform his circus tricks during the afternoon.

Another very welcome addition will see young hip-hop artist, BURKIE perform his soulful track 'We Ain't Mad At Ya' in memory of his best friend, Rían de Brún.

As was the case with it’s first outing last year, Joy In The Park will again balance a sense of fun with connection and understanding, whilst raising awareness for mental health and well-being through an engaging programme of wellness, sensory activities and workshops, provided by the HSE Cork & Kerry Community Health Action Zone and a number of organisations and community groups.

These groups include SHINE, MyMind, GROW, Cork Counselling Services, Jigsaw, and Cork city Comhairle na nÓg. They will be joined by PIETA, Samaritans, Shine A Light, Aware.ie, and the National Learning Network, who will be at the event as part of the support hub, offering their support and information throughout the afternoon.

In partnership with Cork Mental Health Foundation, Joy In The Park is a celebration of life, whilst highlighting the importance of minding one’s mental health and well-being through bringing the community together and finding joy.

Joy In The Park is a free event for everyone and is able to take place because of the financial support provided by a number of institutions. Funding confirmed to date include HSE Cork & Kerry Community Healthcare, HSE Cork Connecting For Life Programme, Cork City Council's Arts Office, Cork City Council, Minding Creative Minds, Shine A Light, and Cork Mental Health Foundation.

Joy In The Park 2023 takes place in Fitzgerald's Park, Cork city, on 23 July from 11am-6pm.
