Summer training course for educators in Cork in July

A Cork-based organisation is offering a three-day summer training programme to all teachers, SNAs, lecturers and early childhood professionals to support their understanding of how the relationships they make in education settings have a direct impact on health, wellbeing and learning outcomes.

The programme, ABLE4Educators Summer Course, is being run by Relationships in Practice under SHEP (the Social and Health Education Project) and will be held at SHEP’s offices in Ballintemple over three days: Tuesday 11, Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 July, from 9.30am-4.30pm.

Robyn Pinkham, Training & Development Coordinator with Relationships in Practice, said: “We are offering this CPD-approved ABLE (Adopt a relational approach, Build, Listen & Empower) training at a one-off subsidised rate of just €50 to all educators to say thank you for hard work in the busy year that is now coming to an end.

Attendees will learn about the transformative power of quality relationships and will develop their interpersonal skills and knowledge to help build confidence in engaging with parents/students and managing difficult conversations in a school or college setting.

“As well as sharing evidence-based knowledge and insight such as infant mental health, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and conflict, we will also provide a framework via our ABLE brief intervention model to help them to manage their time and boundaries for their own wellbeing,” she explained.

“We are looking forward to creating a space for educators from across the entire sector to come together this July without the worry of missing classes during the busy academic year. ABLE4Educators will give participants the tools and resources to be ‘that one good adult’ in a pupil’s/student’s life as research shows that makes all the difference,” she said.
