Pitch’d Circus and Street Arts Festival returns

With Culture Night just around the corner on Friday 22 September, one of the highlights is set to be some of the fun activities taking place as part of the Pitch’d Circus and Street Arts Festival. Known for its vibrant blend of circus and street art, the festival will take place at the Marina Market and Opera Lane, offering a diverse range of events suitable for all ages and tastes.

Satisfy your sweet cravings at the Sweet as Circus Cabaret, hosted at the Marina Market. It will feature drag performances by Mockie Ah and showcase a variety of circus acts and burlesque performances, and afterwards attendees can hit the dance floor and groove the night away. Restricted to those over 18, this cabaret event is free but has limited tickets available.

Feel the excitement with Firestorm, a fire show at the Marina Market that promises a captivating display of fire and circus skills. The show, performed by three fire artists, blends circus, fire performance, magic, object manipulation, dance, and theatre to create a boundary-pushing experience. Family-friendly and free, tickets for Firestorm are limited.

For those seeking hands-on experiences, juggling workshops with Juggler Brendan will be held at Cork City Library and Opera Lane. The workshops aim to teach fun and achievable tricks using a range of juggling props. Brendan will also be throwing open his cases of juggling equipment for everyone to pick up a prop and have a go! No registration is required, making it a great family Culture Night activity.

And don’t forget to keep an eye out for ‘Lady Longbottom,’ on Opera Lane, a larger-than-life stilt walker, and ‘Clown on a Bike,’ performed on a mini penny-farthing bicycle. The roving acts add colour, excitement and crowd interaction to this culture night event.
