A theatrical tapestry of delights at the Everyman

The Everyman has kicked off its new season in style, offering theatre enthusiasts a diverse array of shows to look forward to in the coming months.

Cork's beloved traditional family panto is making a return with ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ directed by Catherine Mahon-Buckley. This production is set to grace The Everyman stage from 2 December to 14 January. This year there will be three accessible performances, including The Everyman's first-ever relaxed panto performance.

A highlight of the season is likely to be ‘The Women, We Will Rise,’ a collaboration between The Everyman and singer-songwriter Karan Casey in association with Cork Folk Festival.

Two circus productions will be staged as part of Pitch'd Circus and Street Arts Festival, in partnership with Circus Factory. The Pitch'd Festival Gala promises family fun, while House of Circus blends contemporary circus with the captivating world of drag performance.

The busy festival period will also feature The Everyman as a hub for the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival, welcoming both international and local acts like Kurt Elling, Matthew Halsall, Fred Wesley and the New JBs, and a Soft Boy Records showcase. In November, the venue will transform into a cinema for the Cork International Film Festival.

Dance aficionados can anticipate 'How to be a Dancer in Seventy-two Thousand Easy Lessons,' presented by Teaċ Daṁsa and the Gate Theatre, as part of Sounds from a Safe Harbour. This production, choreographed and written by Michael Keegan-Dolan, will also mark his return to the stage as a performer after over two decades.

For those seeking drama, the acclaimed ‘Tom Crean – Antarctic Explorer’ returns, showcasing Aidan Dooley's solo portrayal of one of Ireland's unsung heroes.

Opera enthusiasts will find delight in Irish National Opera's presentation of Vivaldi's ‘L'Olimpiade’ and Opera Collective Ireland's Irish premiere of the contemporary comic opera ‘Flight’ by Jonathan Dove.

The live music lineup features Lisa O'Neill, set to play her largest Cork show yet, as well as veteran singer-songwriter Ralph McTell. Returning favorites include John Spillane and Eddi Reader, and The Everyman Sunday Songbook team will celebrate Neil Diamond in October.

The comedy circuit boasts the return of Chris Kent and Gearóid Farrelly, who previously sold out the venue, alongside Neil Delamere and Al Porter with their respective shows.

And podcaster Louise McSharry will bring her talk show 'In Conversation with Louise McSharry' to The Everyman in the new year.

Speaking about the forthcoming season, Artistic Director Sophie Motley said: “I’m so excited to share the autumn season with audiences. As the nights draw in, we’ve something for everyone in the city, from the best of Cork comedy to internationally acclaimed theatre, and amazing opportunities for young people to get involved.”

Executive Director and CEO of The Everyman, Sean Kelly commented: “I’m thrilled that we’re launching a new season that promises top-quality live entertainment for all ages. All of us at The Everyman are very much looking forward to offering you a memorable experience at our theatre.”
