Cork City Fire Brigade attended more than 50 callouts during Storm Isha.

More weather warnings as Isha cleanup gets underway

A further weather warning will come into effect in Cork from late afternoon tomorrow as emergency services brace for another busy 24 hours.

As the cleanup following Storm Isha continues, Met Éireann has issued a yellow warning for Cork starting at 5pm tomorrow and to remain in place until 2am on Wednesday.

The public is advised to prepare for “very strong and gusty southwest to west winds”.

According to Met Éireann, potential impacts for tomorrows warning include large coastal waves with wave overtopping, difficult travelling conditions, and debris and loose objects being displaced.

It follows widespread damage and disruption caused by Storm Isha as it tore across the country on Sunday.

Thousands were left without power across county Cork with widespread reports of fallen trees, flooding, and downed power lines.

According to the ESB PowerCheck service, there are currently more than 12 network faults across Cork city and county affecting hundreds of customers. These include Ringaskiddy, Killacloyne, Ballydehob, Aghada, Kilbarry, Whitechurch, and Bantry. Power has recently been restored to 104 customers at Ladysbridge.

There were also reports of European fishing vessels taking shelter in Bantry Bay.

The most recent update from Iarnród Éireann reports that services between Cork and Cobh remain suspended due to a fallen tree on the line.

Meanwhile, Cork Airport was forced to cancel a number of flights, while some inbound flights were diverted to Shannon.

It was a busy 24 hours for Leeside emergency services with Cork City Fire Brigade crews at Anglesea Street and Ballyvolane responding to over 50 separate incidents.

“Crews worked hard in difficult conditions around the city and county,” the Fire Service wrote on X.

The fire service also confirmed that there are currently lane restrictions on Parnell Place.
