Local man Kevin Kenneally will be laid to rest following a requiem mass at the Holy Family Church, Youghal.

The funeral of well-known Youghal local Kevin Kenneally will take place today, Thursday.

Mr Kenneally, one of the founders of Youghal United AFC, was hit by a car at Upper Cork Hill, Youghal last Thursday. The 68 year old died from his injuries at CUH on Sunday.

A requiem mass for Mr Kenneally will be held today at 11am in the Holy Family Church, Youghal with a private cremation service afterwards.

Mr Kenneally leaves behind his wife Helen, sons Kevin, David, Stephen, and Sean, and many extended family, friends, and neighbours.

Tributes have poured in since news broke of Mr Kenneally’s death.

Youghal United AFC took to social media to pay tribute to their founding member and former player whose son Sean is the club’s current senior coach, and whose grandson Shay plays on the U14 team.

“No words can describe how sorry we are for ye're loss.

“Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time.

“We hope you find peace and solace in ye're time of need. We pray that the days ahead bring ye peace and comfort,” the club wrote.

Gardaí are urging any witnesses to last Thursday’s collision to come forward. They are particularly appealing to and road users with camera footage who were in the area of Upper Cork Hill between 6pm and 6:30pm.
