Longtime Everyman seamstress, Ann Burton, will be laid to rest today.

Leeside theatre legend Ann Burton laid to rest

Cork theatre legend and longtime Everyman seamstress, Ann Burton, will be laid to rest today, Thursday.

Ms Burton, who was beloved by many generations of children and adults involved in CADA and The Everyman, passed away surrounded by family in Marymount on Sunday.

Her funeral will take place today, Thursday, in the Church of Immaculate Conception near the Lough.

Speaking after her passing, CADA and Everyman panto director Catherine Mahon Buckley paid tribute to her dear friend.

“Today our beautiful costume mistress Ann Burton has flown to her home in heaven. Our deepest sympathies to her wonderful family.

“Ann, thank you for everything, you played a big part in our lives. We will always remember you and we know you will look after us now. Rest in Peace to our beautiful Ann,” said Ms Buckley.

Ms Burton served as the costume mistress for pantos in the Everyman for over 20 years, as well as being involved in the Order of Malta and St Finbarrs Athletics Club. She is survived by her children Ann, Robert, Stacey, Maura, and Frances.
