Jokes for Stroke is back

Fancy laughing your socks off and raising money for charity? This comedy gig is just the ticket!

Jokes for Stroke is back again this year following its sellout success last year, the inaugural event, and it’s all in aid of Cork Stroke Support with comedy star Christ Kent back this year with some of the most hilarious people in the business.

Some of the most popular acts on the Irish comedy scene will come together for Jokes for Stroke. Chris Kent will be joined by Kyla Cobbler, Ross Browne, Bernard Casey, Laura O’Mahony, Con O’Sullivan, Ciara Barnes and Mike Morgan. All comedians and crew have waived their fees meaning that all proceeds will go directly to fund the important work of Cork Stroke Support. Named as one of the top five Irish comedy stars by Hot Press, Chris Kent and friends will take to the stage of the Everyman on 11 April to raise funds and awareness for Cork Stoke Support. Comedian Chris Kent said: “Last year’s Jokes for Stroke was a phenomenal success and raised funds for the incredible work of Cork Stroke Support. The service is dedicated to enhancing the lives of stroke survivors in a meaningful and impactful way.

“It takes a team of people driven by a shared cause to keep Cork Stroke Support going. That work inspired me to bring our own gang back together doing what we do best – making people laugh. The best thing about this show is that I get to surround myself with my comedy friends, some of the soundest and funniest in the business. The lucky people of Cork get to enjoy the results on the stage of the Everyman.”

Chairperson of Cork Stroke Support Dan Cronin said: “Last year’s comedy gig was a massive success; raising funds, raising awareness and raising the roof of the Everyman Theatre with laughter. We are so grateful to Chris and his fellow comedians for generously giving their time again this year for this wonderfully funny evening.

“The event would not be possible without the generous support of Astra Construction Ltd. The founder and MD Stephen McCarthy has supported our work in many ways and we are delighted to have him on board as the show sponsor.” Dan added: “At Cork Stroke Support we support people on their recovery journey after a stroke. We focus on the whole body and mind, taking a friendly and community-based approach. We find times for laughter and levity in that connection. Bringing people together is a big part of what we do, and that’s why this comedy gig is such a good fit. So grab your ticket, sit back and let the laughter in!”

Tickets are €29 and on sale from the Everyman. See everymancork.com for more.
