Green Rebel surveys American market

One innovative Cork company had a very productive time celebrating St Patrick’s Day this year.

Offshore survey company Green Rebel took part in an Enterprise Ireland trade mission to the US recently, travelling to Washington DC and attending events focusing on sustainability. They also went to St Patrick’s Day celebrations with An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar TD.

Green Rebel was established in Crosshaven in 2020 and provides a full range of survey and data services to the offshore renewable energy (ORE) industry. It specialises in acquiring, processing and analysing marine, aerial and met-ocean data using its fleet of survey boats and aircraft together with purpose-built innovative technologies.

Green Rebel has live and upcoming projects in Ireland, Scotland and off the coast of mainland Europe. It is also exploring potential projects in international markets such as the United States and Australia.

Kieran Ivers, CEO of Green Rebel said: “The United States represents a huge, developing market for the offshore renewable energy industry. There is a pipeline of work emerging and Green Rebel wants to be part of it. The US has set goals to deploy 30GW of offshore wind by 2030 with an additional 15GW of floating offshore wind by 2035.

“That is more than seven times Ireland’s targets. An international supply chain will be needed to support the US development. We, at Green Rebel, have already demonstrated our ability to do business in Ireland and Europe from our bases in Cork and Limerick.

“This trip is an exciting opportunity for us, we started in a portacabin in Crosshaven less than four years ago, now we’re part of delegations with An Taoiseach to the capital of the United States. Additionally, we are looking forward to attending this April’s IPF conference in New Orleans as part of our commitment to the US market,” he added.

The St Patrick’s Day trip is organised by Enterprise Ireland which is hosting more than 50 overseas business events this week showcasing the Irish companies that are scaling rapidly.

Kieran Ivers attended events with key people from the US Department of Energy; the Chief of Staff to John Kerry, Special Presidential Envoy for Climate; and the US Ambassador to Ireland. He was a guest at the American Ireland Funds Gala, and attended the annual St Patrick’s Day Business Lunch and the Irish Embassy Reception.

Green Rebel also featured on a special St Patrick’s Day edition of Impact with John Shegerian. The weekly podcast featured conversations with some of the greatest business minds and thought leaders across the globe. It has been downloaded millions of times and boasts 200,000 regular listeners.
