Trapeze the season

A spectacular event marking World Circus Day will take place on Leeside later this month.

Hosted by Circus factory, the World Circus Day Ball is happening on 20 April and promises an evening of jaw-dropping entertainment.

Running from 7.30pm until 2am, the special event will kick off with some live circus acts including trapeze, acrobatics, and comedy juggling.

Then the audience will head outside for a sizzling fire performance sure to keep them warm.

Then it’s back inside for a musical performance by 0phelia and PakAnimal, and improvised live song creation played by a unique band every time. To round off the night there will be a dance party with DJ Jus’Me until 2am.

Circus Factory Artistic Director Cormac Mohally said: “Shows in Circus Factory are legendary and I’m so excited for this year’s World Circus Day because it’s supported by the Arts Council of Ireland, so we can bring international performers over as well as engage national artists.

“I love seeing how much Circus Factory can transform from training space to venue. For me, World Circus Day will always have a special place in my heart because on World Circus Day, two years ago, I proposed to my now wife!”

World Circus Day is celebrated worldwide on the 3rd weekend of April every year.

Located on Centre Park Road, Ballintemple, Cork city, Circus Factory is a contemporary circus training and creation space in Cork city and a regional hub for South West Ireland.

Its aim is to deliver an engaging, high quality and inclusive year round programme for all ages and levels through education, training, participation, performance, and professional development.
