Home Alone in Currabinny
Cork’s own Macaulay Culkin made his family disappear this Christmas!
Four year old Andrew Sullivan from Currabinny has reprised the role made famous by Culkin in a Cork remake of the iconic 1990 film ‘Home Alone’.
The short film follows the antics of the cunning preschooler who is accidentally left behind and must defend his home against two menacing burglars – the Bucktooth Bandits.
Shot on location in Currabinny, the short film was produced by Andrew’s dad Matt Sullivan who owns a video production company – Bolt the Door Films Ltd.
“The kids saw the (original) movie for the first time this year and loved it. I said I’d shoot a few scenes for the laugh and it grew from there. We cast family, friends and neighbours and the project took off,” he explained.
Matt continued: “We spent a lot of time working on the gags to take down the bandits and the final result is hilarious and full of high jinks.
“It will be great for the kids to have in years to come, a great way to document their childhood while spending quality time with them,” added Matt.
Hilarious and heartwarming, the video also features Andrew’s uncle Garda Sergeant Joe Sullivan who arrests the baddies as well as his twin sisters Lilly and Hannah and mom Michelle.
When asked about working on the short Christmas film and his son Andrew, Matt said: “Andrew was just brilliant as Kevin - totally mischievous and adorable and it’s hard to believe at times he is only four years of age.
“We had a lot of fun making the movie. Christmas nostalgia got a Cork makeover,” concluded Matt.
