Man found unresponsive in city centre

A male who was found unresponsive in the early hours of this morning remains in a serious condition in hospital.

Gardaí were alerted to an incident in which a male was discovered unresponsive on Winthrop Street in Cork city shortly before 12.30am in the early hours of Monday.

The injured male, aged in his 20s, was transferred to Cork University Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: “The scene is currently preserved for technical examination by the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit. Investigating gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to please come forward.”

Any persons who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the surrounding area of Winthrop Street and Patrick Street between midnight and 1am is asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
