New x-ray service now open in Mallow
There are times when you or your child really need to know if something is broken.
The problem is a trip to A&E could take most of a day - or longer.
New services mean that it’s now far easier to access vital x-ray services. Services like Mobile Medical Diagnostics are a breath of fresh air for patients, GPs, and the wider healthcare system.
Funded by the HSE and available to all eligible patients over the age of 17—no medical card required—Mobile Medical Diagnostics is changing how everyone accesses x-rays.
Whether through their national mobile service or at one of their local clinics, like the newly opened facility in Mallow Primary Healthcare Centre, the aim is the same: fast, local, and hassle-free diagnostics.
The service is open weekday mornings and accepts all x-rays with a GP referral. That means no long delays, no waiting lists, and no stressful trips to hospital for something that can be handled in the community.
Once the x-ray is taken, the report is sent back to the referring GP within four hours—allowing for quicker decisions and earlier treatment plans.
This is especially important for older adults, nursing home residents, or anyone with mobility issues. By avoiding unnecessary hospital transfers and long emergency department waits, patients not only get seen faster—they get better outcomes, too.
For doctors, it means faster turnaround, reduced pressure on hospital services, and more control over their patients’ care.
For patients, it’s peace of mind knowing help is available nearby and quickly.
Mobile Medical Diagnostics is proving that healthcare doesn’t always have to mean hospital.
Sometimes, the best care is the kind that comes to you—or at least meets you halfway.
Mobile Medical Diagnostics x-ray service is on the 1st Floor of Mallow Primary Healthcare Centre, Gooldshill, Co. Cork, P51 Y8EC.
