CBA ready to roll up their sleeves
Grab your cleaning gloves, it’s time make Oliver Plunkett Street look spick and span.
Following the success of its inaugural Cleaning and Greening morning on North Main Street, the Cork Business Association (CBA) is rolling up its sleeves once again targeting Oliver Plunkett Street.
On Tuesday 24 June, CBA members, local businesses, and volunteers will come together to refresh and revitalise the popular city centre street. The event will stretch from Vodafone to The Welcome Inn, with a variety of tasks planned including cleaning, planting, and painting.
Volunteers will meet at The Old Oak Bar at 9am, where light bites will be served before the work begins. The morning’s efforts will be rewarded with lunch at 12.30pm, kindly provided by Market Lane. Dave O’Brien, President of CBA, said: “This is about more than just a tidy-up — it’s about business owners and locals taking pride in our shared spaces. Our first event showed what a difference one morning of focused action can make. We’re looking forward to building on that momentum on Oliver Plunkett Street.”
The event is part of a broader CBA campaign to improve one street at a time in Cork city enhancing streetscapes, encouraging civic pride, and supporting the city’s reputation as a welcoming, vibrant place to live, work, and visit. The initiative is a collaborative effort between the CBA and Cork City Council. A visual audit carried out on each street informs the work, highlighting issues from dirt and debris to outdated signage and neglected infrastructure.
McKechnie Cleaning Services will return as a key supporter, bringing power washers, window washers, and industrial sweepers to help deliver professional results. Volunteers will also be equipped with gloves, brushes, litter pickers, and paint supplied by the CBA.
