Seagal’s coming to Cork, aikido not!

Putin pal and Hollywood star of days gone, Steven Seagal, is coming to Cork this weekend for an event promoting world peace.

The controversial martial artist will be joining elders and spiritual leaders from around the globe at Dripsey Castle, county Cork, for World Peace Gathering 2025 which runs from this Friday until Sunday.

The event is described by organisers as a “historic inclusive three day gathering uniting global voices for peace, healing, cultural exchange, and Indigenous wisdom”.

Star of ‘90s films like ‘Marked for Death’ and ‘On Deadly Ground’, Seagal was granted Russian citizenship in 2016 and was later appointed Russian envoy to the US by his “personal friend”, Vladimir Putin.

World Peace Gathering 2025 will welcome Native American leader Hereditary Chief Phil Lane Jr along with delegates from the Council of the Condor, Eagle, Quetzal, and Hummingbird.

Representatives from tribes including the Diné (Navajo), Hopi, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Lakota, Kalaallit of Greenland, Friesland, the Amazon, the Andes, and beyond will also attend the event.
