Man arrested following aggravated burglary
A man was arrested this morning following an aggravated burglary on the northside of Cork city.
Three men entered a residential property in the Lagan Grove area of Mayfield armed with implements, and confronted the occupants, before fleeing at around12.40am.
Gardaí on patrol in the area responded to the incident. A male, aged in his 30s, was arrested at the scene and detained pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a garda station in the Cork area.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: “One of the occupants, a man, also aged in his 30s, was conveyed to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time. A technical examination of the scene has been conducted by gardaí. Investigations are ongoing.”
Gardaí are now appealing for anyone with any information regarding this incident to come forward. Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were in the Lagan Grove area of Mayfield between midnight on Sunday 10 August and 1am this morning is asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
